Augmented Intelligence | New ChatGPT-4 | Design Thinking
Augmented Intelligence with New version ChatGPT-4, Design Thinking is a Must! As artificial intelligence continues to develop, it carries the applications it takes part in even further. We have been seeing an example of this in ChatGPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) for some time. ChatGPT is an AI chatbot application developed by OpenAI that uses the language models of GPT-3 and GPT-4 with which humans can interact.
It uses artificial intelligence technology and thanks to the training carried out using a large amount of data, it can understand human language, answer questions and continue conversations. In this way, it can interact with people in a correspondence method with a flow of speech in natural language. It is intended to be used in customer service, personal assistants, in-depth conversations, research and many other areas.
Augmented Intelligence! New Version GPT-4 Released!
GPT-4, based on generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI), is an improved version of GPT-3 that can be used in many different areas such as natural language processing (NLP), machine translation, speech synthesis. One of the highlights of the new version, which has more advanced capabilities, is that it can accept not only text but also image, also video inputs.
On the other hand, it has skills such as song composition, learning the user’s writing style, image identification, video game coding, website construction. At this point, Microsoft announced that the chat experience of the “new Bing” is built on GPT-4.
OpenAI says in a statement that GPT-4 uses feedback from users to become more accurate and reliable, resulting in an increased level of knowledge, reasoning and problem-solving ability to solve difficult problems with greater accuracy.
Despite this, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman tweeted that “GPT-4 is the most capable and compatible model to date, but it still has its flaws.”
Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Intelligence
I mentioned that ChatGPT is based on artificial intelligence. Artificial Intelligence (AI), on the other hand, is based on the imitation and modeling of human-like reasoning functions and cognitive processes of computer systems during the development process. Another important concept is “augmented intelligence”. This concept is used in the literature in relation to the concepts of “augmented intelligence” and “augmented human”.
The concepts of augmented intelligence and human beings have started to come to the agenda more with the development of technology and the contributions it provides to people.
The definition of augmented intelligence in the Gartner dictionary is as follows: “Augmented intelligence is a design model for a human-centered partnership of human and artificial intelligence (AI), which works together to improve cognitive performance, including learning, decision-making and new experiences.” The key point here is that with the concept of augmented intelligence, artificial intelligence is given the role of helper, not the leading role that human has. Thus, artificial intelligence systems are intended to support people rather than working independently of humans.
The profit of AI
From the first day ChatGPT was announced, it has raised questions about what it has done and will do and human employment. But when we start from the definition of augmented intelligence, there is no doubt that it should remain a tool. In line with the information requested in the current trials, it can sometimes perform more than expected and sometimes underperform.
The truth is that it will continue to be developed. In its prediction for the future of Chat GPT, Open AI expects revenue to grow to $1 billion by the end of 2024. This development marks an important milestone for the company and could lead to further investment and greater innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. Again, if we look at the market data on augmented intelligence;
According to the Allied Market Research Report, the global augmented intelligence market size is estimated to be worth $11.73 billion in 2020 and will reach $121.57 billion in 2030, with a combined annual growth rate of 26.4 percent from 2021 to 2030.
Companies Will Need More Design Thinking!
ChatGPT has the potential to fully engage in some areas of business. On the other hand, some companies and employees will use ChatGPT to get ideas on different issues, and ChatGPT will take on the role of contributing to the decision support process of employees. So instead of being a substitute for humans, it will work with both humans and machines to provide better outcomes.
However, in order for this use to be healthy and to contribute to the customer experience processes in a healthy way, the design-oriented thinking process in which the human being is at the center should always be in play. Because although ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based system, has increased the power to collect information to support decisions, there may not always be enough equipment to evaluate and interpret the result it offers. Especially when it is to be used for research, experts in the field should be consulted before implementing the answers from the Chat GPT model.
In the face of the answers it gives to our demands, it is necessary not to completely abandon our ability to question, not to exhibit a conformist approach, but to evaluate it by associating it with real life.
Design-oriented thinking approach
At this point, the design-oriented thinking approach that comes into play can provide an interdisciplinary evaluation opportunity by bringing together employees from different specialties in the company and wrong practices can be prevented. The stages of this method (empathy, identification, idea formation, prototype, testing) should be applied and a road map should be drawn by reviewing the data offered by artificial intelligence in a healthy and safe way.
The use of artificial intelligence and design thinking to support each other will make it possible for companies to look at the customer perspective, develop new product and service ideas, create value propositions in line with the unmet wihes of customers and take greater steps for innovations to be made in designing customer experiences.
